I always thought I'm a very strong person, won't dwell on sadness too long, able to get back up fast.

Now I'm not sure, is that I have to portray that image or I'm really that positive.

I guess certain image have to be there, so people would be jumping around you showing concern. I can't take it. I will burst out crying. I have to hide the troubled thoughts, sadness beneath many many layers.

So much so that, I feel like I'm will collapse any moment now!! Underneath me, is just a small girl wanting some love and concern from the one she loved!

I suddenly realise I have alot of things to learn, alot of experiences to go through. I suddenly realise the world is so big and I am so small. There is so many things/community/people suffering/beautiful scenery out there.

Singapore really is a good place to stay, but coz of the high-paced lifestyle, dog-eat-dog society, it sort of shape how we think. We gotta pull ourselves out of the race and pause. Life isn't about just chasing, its about enjoying the process of chasing.

They might have predict something good or bad that will happen, its in your very hands and each step/decision you make everyday that determine whether that 'something' will eventually happen.

It is up to you, whether you are willing to take charge of your life, and decide yourself is this the right decision? Stand by it. Don't regret it. Coz time can never be chased back; whats gone will be gone.

I suddenly hav many 感触 now that I FINALLY realise its 2011 this Sat. I guess its really time to sit down n think, what hav u done this year? Can it be better? Did u regret anything? What are you gng to achieve in the new year ahead? Any new records or things u wanna do? Set achievable goals n targets, at e end of next year, check against. So at least won't feel so lost like NOW. Initially was just sore throat and dry cough. ok w me. but now, it's blocked nose! arghh hate blocked nose, always felt my nose is dropping off and super dry.

Normally I would LOVE to fall sick, it's a rarity to me. But not this month what!!

This is the first time such impromptu trip was made! Thought about it on Sunday, booked it on Monday! I have no complains for the spa massage and seaview! We chose one of the higher end one, coz got promotion so mix and match abit.

Solid 3hours of body scrub, body mask, foot bath, hydrobath, body massage all in view of the chio seaview. √√√ out of √√√ ticks!

Though I must say, the ‘cottage’ wasn’t as good lah. Haha

I would recommend 1 day spa massage instead! =) and go for the body scrub! Scrub scrub away the dead skin!

Oh, btw KTM resort is the one I went.

Recently, I’ve known about this thingy, whereby you buy the magazine/mook/catalog then with it, comes this freebie. And this freebie range from slippers, umbrella, mirror, and pouch to bags, actually anything you can think of. (Most of the time I go to Kino, Jap source more.)

Though it is not very cheap, nor very expensive! I‘ve got these 3 at about $60++? after Kino discount.

Eh, for shopping bags or short trip to J8 or cheap thrill also good lah!!!

I also met up w my Primary School mates. I think the last round I've met them is during my 21st birthday? It's good to meet up since in awhile in a big grp to catch up... chill... and reminiscing! hahaha that's the funniest part! esp if there is stories and we no longer paiseh to talk about it. And having a poor memory, I had fun listening to who like who, who got rumors w who.. wahaha thats what u do in Pri Sch what.
The only thing I learn from this day is also that a GOOD organiser is very very important!!

I realised that as you get older, family n bf (if you hav one) takes up alot of time, apart from work lah. haha.

And your thinking will start to mature, you will start to do some planning, find some directions in life.. Have you wondered? like we are in our 20s.. its the 'almost-prime' age!

what would you do?

A: enjoying life! shopping, spending money, living in the moment. Don't bother or worry about future.

B: starts to plan, work a stable job, get a stable pay, then get married n hav kids?

I think a balance between the 2 options is important? you HAVE to think what you want to achieve, what are your life goals, so that you can choose a suitable career n job. And then, with the salary. budget abit for savings/investments for future use and the rest.. splurge!! haha (we girls have to invest in good bags too right? its a kind of investment =D)

I really think those people who don't SEE themself 20 yrs later, what they are doing, shld really think about it! Time flies! I bet no one like REGRETS?!!?! its like a banned word.

By re-reading what I've typed, I feel old.

On a random note:

Every1 is busy w own's stuff n work, friends gathering will get lesser n lesser.. it was to be every month.. den every few months.. den every important event. sigh..

Excuses are like, no time, difficult to meet every1's schedule.. no one want to take the lead n plan.

So if some1 stands out n try to organise something, I really appreciate the effort! will TRY to say ok! so that the person don't have difficulty too! =)

I'm almost done w Gossip Girl season 3, now waiting for w.tv to launch that last 2 episode! arghh den after that, is chiong-ing for Bones!!

Bones in US is already a done deal, I've watched half the season thanks to Msia (hehe) n now we are re-watching it on DVDs. Original DvDs are best lah. Can't beat the pirates! It's good for cheap thrills nia. HAHA

Medisave contribution may go up to cover costs

SINGAPORE: Medisave contribution may go up as the need for long-term care increases with Singapore's aging population.

Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan said the current contribution rate of 6.5% to about 9% does not build up enough reserves to pay for both big medical bills and long-term care.

Medisave has been around for 25 years and was originally meant to pay for major hospital stays but its use has since been expanded to include some outpatient payments.

Mr Khaw said the current contribution rate is not enough to cover long-term healthcare bills.

"We've never priced that into Medisave contribution rate. So that's a topic almost certainly I see a need for discussion during the upcoming Budget Debate," he said.

Speaking on the sidelines of his visit to the Bloodbank@HSA on Thursday, Mr Khaw said the increase in contribution rate will depend on what the Members of Parliament are ready to support.

Meanwhile, more money will be injected into the common health subsidy pool for citizens.

This follows the ministry's decision to reduce health subsidies given to permanent residents (PRs) from January 1 next year. The idea is to further sharpen the distinction between Singapore citizens and PRs.

The Health Ministry said in a statement: "Citizens enjoy heavy subsidy in Class B2 and C wards. PRs receive significant subsidy while foreigners are not subsidised at all. The subsidy distinction reflects the privileges of citizenship, but there is scope for refinement."

PRs now get 10 percentage points less in subsidy than citizens. This will go up to a 20-point difference by 2012.
With the revision, citizens are still entitled to an 80% subsidy for a Class C ward. But PRs will be entitled to 60% of cost, down from 70%.

And Mr Khaw explained how the cost savings from the move will be used.

"Our data suggests that about 6% of our patients are PRs, so this reduction in subsidy for them, will save us about seven million dollars a year, which we would then use to top up our growing subsidy for citizens."

The minister said that it is only right for citizens to enjoy more subsidies than non-citizens.

Mr Khaw added that the move will mean PRs have to make some adjustments like getting additional health insurance.

"If you're not already insured with a private shield, then you should seriously think about taking up one because your basic MediShield is really aimed at the B2, C subsidy rates. So now that your subsidy will be less, I think you need to augment it with a private shield."

To help the PRs affected by the policy to ease into the adjustments, the reduction will be carried out in stages.

From January 1 next year, the subsidy for PRs in the public hospitals (Class B2 and C wards) and specialist outpatient clinics will be reduced by 5 percentage-points.

From July 1 next year, another 5 percentage-point reduction will apply in the public hospitals and specialist outpatient clinics.

Also from July 1 next year, the subsidy for PRs in the intermediate and long-term care sector like community hospitals and nursing homes will be reduced by 5 percentage-points.

From January 1, 2012, another 5 percentage-point reduction will apply in the intermediate and long-term care sector.
By 2012, there will be a 20 percentage-point difference in healthcare subsidies between citizens and PRs.

Shopping is tiring man. but to shop on a weekday like this is good. =) don't hav to tussle w people for shopping/fitting rooms. yeah. I <3 my job. wahahaha

A New Direction

When I first decided to make the switch 7months ago, people were asking why???!!! my family is disapproving, I'm hearing bad comments about how saturated the industry was and how friends wil shun me off. So after much thinking, I decided to join Great Eastern!

Making this decision is huge for me,
1. I do not want to be stuck in a normal 9-5 office job, listening to boss's instruction, doing things for the sake of doing.
2. This was a 2nd chance, I was offered to join them last year 2008 after I've graduated but my mom was not approving and I do not want to upset her.
3. I believe that once I set my mind to it, I can do it! and I wanna show everyone that I can achieve what I wanted.

Coming into this line, allows me to read more on self-development, see-ing things in different light and different viewpt. It is tough initially, learning all that I should know before I'm capable to advise ppl and it is still tough now.

I can say, I'm still learning and will always be, coz there is never enuff. As compared to an experienced agent, ppl would rather choose an experienced one, as they wouldn't know when I will leave the industry or whether I'm up to it. But I'm really thankful that some of my existing clients gave me this chance! to be able to be of svc to them and offering them advise and help and since then we are friends.

To be able to offer financial planning advise to ppl is what I do, it may be due to the bad image casted that ppl are always shun-ning us off. stimes I feel sad, if they hav a gd servicing agent and they are well-equipped in their planning, I'm happy for this group. But moreoften than not, many are not aware what is financial planning all about, and thinks that all agents are just cheating their money away.

If financial planning is so simple, I wouldn't need to go through 3 exams, trainings and more trainings. Every Tom, Dick and Harry and do their own planning, if it is so simple what!

I really feel that financial planning is important whether you are single, just starting your family or in the midst of a wholesome family or even retirement. If you wait till each milestone then you start planning for what's ahead, do you think there is enough time?

Time and tide wait for no man, do you want to regret when it comes or want to be thankful that coz of a mature thinking you had planned ahead and had no problems going into old age.

Anything can happen to anyone at any time, it is only a matter of did u act responsibly nd planned for 'incase' or just 'wait till it comes and we'll see how'. Sadly most Sporeans are like that.

What is financial planning? it is a solution to your problems now n later, ask yourself, do u worry abt having enough money to spend or even eat when you are unable to work? do you worry when illness strikes? do you worry abt your hospital bills if you get hospitalised? do you want to grow your wealth? and in the meantime protect your wealth and make sure when u are not around, your family is able to get 3x or even x no. of times of your wealth? sthing which is not possible by other means. This is what a PAPER can do! the power of PAPER!!
I would also want my family to hav less of a worry without financial burden..

so ppl! think about it! it is not about agents cheating my money, these ppl are ignorant. find out more be4 u sign! trust them!
I come in with this integrity and honesty, coz if I'm the purchasing end, I also wouldn't like to b treated in anyway! I would put myself in their shoes, so all I'm asking is that ppl will put themselves in my shoes. What I earn now is miserly compared to normal jobs and I'm not high-paying enough in my industry (some can even earn up to $5K for new ppl in a mth! P company.. i really dunno wher are their dao-de)

Okay, after saying so much, i feel lighter.. gng for lunch now. Not gng to edit any of the above, gonna b the first time I saying out what I feel.. tata~!

Do You Save More When You Earn Less or More?

The above question is quite tricky right? Some of us may agreed to say that we can only save more when we earn more while on the other hand, some will say that it’s not how much you earn but rather how much you save that’s important. Personally I find the above statement half correct and half wrong. Let me share with you my opinion =)

Take for example two people, Mr A & Mr B, working in same company holding similar position but A getting $1800 salary and B is getting $2800 (All nett income). They live in HDB. Mr A. is a simple man with simple lifestyle. No dining out after work. Watch rented dvd at home on weekend and no branded things on him. Takes public transport even with his wife. On the other hand, Mr B is someone that dines in restaurant once a week, no branded also but will spend weekend chilling out with friends over movies or drinking session. And of course not forgeting he drives a Mazda 3. Looking at this situation, who do you think saves more money?

I believe that at this point of time the answer is obvious. It’s Mr A =) WHY???

Simple reason is because Mr A has lesser expenses than Mr B since he lives life simply and don’t care about social perception of him being so called ‘boring’ man.

In Singapore, if you are someone who stays home most of the time and wears the same clothing every year and never dines in restaurants, you will really be labelled as boring. And normally such people has lesser friends. I am not too sure but do you happen to have some friends like that and they seldom mix around with the rest right? If yes then I am right! Whereas Mr B is the type of friends that many people like to hang out with because more fun and interesting having him around. He will also be more popular among friends and at least there will be more people turning up for birthday party compared to one that Mr A holds =) However my point is not to discriminate any person here but rather trying to share with you that one can save a lot more just by being boring!

Just take the car for instance: Every month the Mr B will have to spend at least a minimum of $1.2-$1.5k on car expenses whereas Mr A will only need to spend $200-$400 if they take occassional cabs. With the amount of saving that Mr A gets, it is almost equivalent to the differences in their pay. So actually they are getting similar pay in the end. Plus all the chilling out sessions and restaurants & movies, all can add up quite a bit per month. Mr B normally finds difficulty saving up every month whereas Mr A will usually be able to save almost $500-$1000/mth. No wonder the people who can’t really buy insurance or got problem saving up belongs to Mr B type! Looks rich but actually quite empty sometimes.

Using this example, we learnt that it really doesn’t matter if you are earning lesser but more of how much you can save up is more important. However on the flip side, if you are able to maintain a low expenses while earning more money at the same time, it will be perfect! But again being very realistic, how many of us are able to do so? I dare to say that out of 10 people, only 2-3 can do it. The remaining are the type that once income goes up, their lifestyle will also goes up! So end of the day, not much changes.

In the end, it’s really the expenses that matter the most. Maintaining a neutral lifestyle is the best because you can get the best of both world. After all we can’t be too stingy to ourselves after working so hard at work. Decide what is more important to you: Whether life after retirement is important or life before retirement is more important and this will guide you to live your life accordingly.

So do you save more when you earn more or less? The answer only can be answered by you =)
